Missionaries And Local Missions

The Grief Recovery Support Group

is for anyone, member or neighbor, who is grieving the loss of someone close to them. The sessions offer support and needed tools to move forward in the journey from mourning to joy. Beginning May 2, 2010, a new cycle of 13 weeks will meet each Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00pm in the new classroom on the lower level. We are honored to share this opportunity with you and our community. Come and/or invite a hurting friend. For additional information call Care Minister, Doris Clark, 770-414-0375 x11.

Serving our family and community
Whether it is around the world or down the street, we have a lot of people involved in a lot of different ministries at Northlake. With all of the diverse interests and talents of our people, we are excited to see the many ways in which God is reaching the community and meeting needs both locally and globally through the people of our congregation. God is at work in our lives, and here are a few of the ways in which He is at work.

For The Church Family
Kidz Ministry
Our children are precious to us, and we strive to find an environment for our kids that encourage them to grow spiritually and to form real and vital relationships with peers and adults. Whether it is our weekly class time and events, or our summer Vacation Bible School and summer camps, there are a lot of ways to get involved and for your kids to grow in powerful ways.

Youth Ministry
We love the energy of our teens, and look for ways to encourage their growth. During the school year, there are a host of opportunities to gather in fellowship and to serve the community. During the summer, the opportunities amplify, as our kids are constantly challenged to live radically for Christ in the places they live.

Women's Ministry

Our women's ministry provides numerous opportunities for loving fellowship among the women of our congregation, including Bible studies, prayer groups, and our annual retreat. Check out our photo gallery from the 2009 October Day.

Men's Ministry
Our men's ministry holds bible studies, quarterly men's breakfasts, and an annual retreat as a way of encouraging fellowship among the men of our congregation. Audio downloads from Randy Harris during the Men's Renewal Weekend From Fri Oct 9 – Sat Oct 10, 2009

For The Community
Mission: Atlanta
Atlanta is an exciting place to live and work, but it is also an exciting mission field. We want to assist college graduates and other young adults in their efforts to find work or continue studies and start a life in Atlanta, and we want to help them grow in their vision for ministry. In Mission: Atlanta, we assist young adults with job networking, short-term housing, and other opportunities to help them get settled in Atlanta. We are also partnering with Apartment Life Ministries to identify and mentor young adults who want to engage in relational ministry in one of the diverse apartment complexes in Atlanta. For more about Mission: Atlanta, visit the website or check out an informational Brochure.

FriendSpeak
FriendSpeak involves connecting our members with internationals who are learning English. In the course of assisting with the language and with making sense of an often new culture, our emphasis is on forging friendships in the name of Christ.

NETWorks
NetWorks is a partnership of area churches in the Northlake, Embry Hills, and Tucker communities. We pool our resources to provide utility and rent assistance, and seek to meet the clothing and food needs of people in our neighborhoods. Northlake helps staff the NetWorks office located at First Baptist Church in Tucker, provides food for the Net Food Pantry, and takes referrals for and manages the Clothing Cottage.

Clothing Cottage
Our clothing cottage provides clothes to people in need through NetWorks and other folks in need. Our clothes are supplied through the donations of our own members and of other churches in the area.

Refugee Ministry
Within a few miles of the Northlake campus, there are hundreds of refugees coming to Atlanta each month. As these people strive to get adjusted to America, Northlake seeks to provide meaningful welcome through various means. Among other things, we provide space for youth soccer leagues, help provide furniture and meet other needs as they arise, provide tutoring for students, and seek to be responsive to the opportunities that come our way.

Bible Ministry to Internationals
We have partnered with our friends at the Clarkston International Bible Church to help reach the immigrant communities in our neighborhood. While they hold outreach efforts in their facilities, we purchase and distribute Bibles in the native languages of our participants. There are over 60 languages spoken in our area, and this is one of several efforts to introduce the gospel into these many people groups.

Hispanic Ministry
Bible studies and partnership in ministries are offered for Spanish speakers

Christian Towers Food Pantry
Christian Towers, a federally subsidized retirement facility in Decatur, was a ministry started years ago by Northlake, then the Decatur Church of Christ. One of the ways in which we maintain our connection to this important ministry is by helping stock a food pantry that provides for food and toiletries for residents in need.

Out In The World
SMILE
Supporting Missionaries with Love and Encouragement or SMILE is a ministry to provide support and encouragement to our missionaries in foreign fields and look for ways to support mission and outreach in our own neighborhoods.

Predisan Ministry, Honduras

Today, it is one of the leading medical missions in Central America. Short Term Mission Trips
