Last Monday’s MLK day event on January 16 was a wonderful experience. About 65 kids from Clarkston, along with around 40 Northlake kids, teens, and adults shared a day of games, learning and food! We learned about King’s 6 point philosophy of nonviolence during the time of the Civil Rights movement and we dreamed our own dream of living in a world where everyone understands that God’s love is the order of the universe. It is a powerful moment to see children from Buddhist, Muslim, and other Christian families alike resonating with the deep wisdom underlying King’s philosophy, the source of which we Christians readily recognize.
One group of young kids wrote this poem during our MLK day experience, and we wanted to share it with you. ~Ike~
