What are you searching for?
Let's face it. Life in Atlanta is full of challenges. While we all contend with the basic stresses of job, traffic, and family, there is a deeper search that shapes our lives. We want lives of meaning and purpose. We want hope when there is no reason for it around us. We want real and meaningful relationships with people. We search for meaning, but we fail to find it in our success at work, the things we own, or the people in our lives. We need something more.
At Northlake, we believe that the hope we have for the challenges in our lives is found in a relationship with God and in a relationship with a community of believers. We have joined together on this journey and want to be changed by our encounter with God.
Life
at Northlake.
We are a group of imperfect people from
different walks of life-young and old, rich and poor, black and white and everything in between.
But we are brought together by our belief that the life and ministry of Jesus Christ changes everything
about our world. We want that change to be with us every day, not just on Sundays. That's why we challenge
each other to live differently, to get involved in service to other people, and to carry on the mission of
Jesus in Atlanta and throughout the world.
We
can't wait to meet you!
Hopefully your search
will bring you to Northlake. If you would like to visit, we have two worship
services on Sunday morning, with Bible classes in between. There are several
regularly scheduled activities during the week, so please check our schedule on
this page.

What’s
a typical Sunday morning like?
No one likes to be the new kid at school- everyone's a stranger and you don't know where the cafeteria is! At Northlake we try to make everyone feel like family, so here's a quick description of what to expect when you visit.
“Welcome!”
At Northlake, we want to be a people who are growing in our hospitality. Our greeters meet everyone at the door with a smile, a handshake and our weekly bulletin. You can ask them where to go for a class or worship service, or stop at our Welcome Center in the main gallery.
Classes
Every Sunday morning, we have classes for all ages of children and adults. In our classes, we strive to form learning communities, as people gather both to deepen their understanding of Scripture and look for the ways in which Scripture can transform our lives. Our adult classes welcome discussion and enjoy exploring hard questions with a humble spirit. Our kids and teen classes are fantastic ways for our kids to learn more about Jesus and to form positive relationships that can be enormously influential in their lives.

Classes in Spanish: Bienvenidos a Nuestros Vecinos Latinos
Le invitamos a conocer más de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo a través de las
clases bíblicas los domingos a las 9:00a.m y los miércoles a las 7:00p.m.;
también a reunirse con la iglesia los domingos a las 10:15a.m. y rendir
adoración al Señor en ingles/español. Celebramos el amor de Dios a través de
convivios especiales y el servicio a nuestra comunidad.
Worship
service
During our service times, we invite the entire congregation to sing praises as our
response to what God is doing in our lives. We view this as a time of spiritual growth,
and so we want our worship to be meaningful, uplifting, challenging, and honoring
to God.
Every
service has time devoted to singing, listening to and reciting scripture, and hearing
a scripture-based lesson. Each week, we celebrate communion- a continual reminder of
the sacrifice of Jesus our Christ for the forgiveness of humanity's sins.

Because we believe that every person has gifts to serve the church and the world,
we welcome both men and women to participate in all ministries and in our worship
assemblies. If you would like to learn more

It’s
not over yet!
Like any other family, you will often find Northlake sharing meals after services, meeting with one another in our homes, and serving our community. Just see the calendar on the site, or our bulletin, The Link, for a complete listing.
It’s
my first time. How should I dress?
We really encourage you to just come as you are. At Northlake, you'll see people dressed many different ways- suits and dresses to jeans and sandals.
Do
you offer child care?
We want the whole family to have a meaningful experience while you're with us. That's why we offer a staffed nursery so that you can focus on the worship time. And our separate kid's worship ensures they get a fun and meaningful message as well.
Are
you going to ask me for money?
No - as our guest, your gift to us is your presence.
But don't be surprised to see a collection being taken every week. We believe that the way we spend our money reflects our values, and so we challenge our members to give in a way that reflects the way God is transforming their lives. This money goes to the operational costs of our church and to our mission and ministry work.
What
exactly do you believe?
We'd love to tell you more about who we are and what we believe.

Northlake Devotional Guide: Lent 2010
In recent years we have published a devotional guide to use in the days
leading up to Easter. However, this year, you are invited to
participate in an online devotional guide. One advantage this form takes
is the capacity for you to post comments and share your thoughts with others.
The guide can be found on the web at
www.northlakecommunity.blogspot.com.
Make your way to the site and participate
with others through prayer, meditation, and conversation.
New Pictures for Our Picture Diretory
We are scheduling appointments for our new picture directory. You can see Jimmy Lampley to schedule an
appointment time or you can schedule your appointment through the
Olan Mills On-Line Scheduler.
If you need assistance with this online scheduler, you can call the "Scheduler HelpLine"
at 1-800-845-1157 extension 6.

A Prayer for Action
by Doris Clark
Lord, today I THANK YOU, because
I woke up and knew where my children were.
My home was still standing;
I was not crying because my husband, my child is buried underneath a pile of rubble.
I was able to turn on the light;
I was able to drink a glass of water;
I was able to take a shower;
I was not planning a funeral.
Most of all I thank you for your love.
Lord, I cry out for the people of Haiti.
I cry out to you, the one who can turn darkness to light.
Give the mothers strength and comfort.
Provide a future and a hope for surviving children.
Open the roads, ports, and hearts so that help arrives.
Provide food, water, medicines, workers and wise leaders in the days ahead.
For all the thousands who are suffering and grieving,
give them hope and courage to go on.
Lord, turn my eyes from the TV to see the hurting cries in my own community,
May your love compel me to risk discomfort, inconvenience, and sacrifice
To share the Gospel by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, befriending the lonely, and doing my part to loose the chains of injustice in my world.
For Jesus’ sake and glory. AMEN
